EO Orange County is a model chapter. Other chapters ask how we grow, how we retain members, and how we built the EO House. Every board that came before us earned that reputation one year at a time, and the FY27/28 board picks up the torch next.

We are looking for members who want to carry it a little further.

You do not need to be a long-time member. You do not need a title. You need to care about this chapter, be realistic about your bandwidth, and be willing to show up prepared.

What we expect

Here is how the board will run and what we expect of each other. If it reads like a board you want to be on, apply. If it does not, that is useful to know now.

Above all, have fun.: Nobody joined EO to sit through more meetings. If this board stops being fun, that is a signal, not a mood. We stop, we figure out why, and we fix it.
The board is a Forum.: Confidential, honest, personal. Nobody remembers the agenda. Everybody remembers who they sat next to.
Check your ego at the door.: We are all founders, and we are all used to being the smartest person in the room. Not here. Titles do not matter, the loudest voice does not decide, and the best idea wins no matter whose it was.
Ask for help early.: Every one of us will hit something we cannot do or do not have time for. That is fine. Hiding it is not.

Board member vs. committee member

Board member

Board members own a function and are responsible for delivering results in it.
- Lead a specific area (Learning, Membership, Forum, MyEO, Communications, and others)
- Attend and contribute to monthly board meetings
- Set the goals, budget, and timeline for your area
- Build and lead the committee that gets the work done
- Work across functions with the rest of the board on one chapter strategy
- Represent EO Orange County regionally or globally when needed
Right for you if: you want to lead something, influence where the chapter goes, and commit consistent time and energy for the full year.
Committee member

Committee members make the board's plans actually happen. It is the best way to get involved without taking on a full seat, and it is where most future board members come from.
- Support a specific board function or initiative
- Help organize events, engage members, or execute communications
- Attend committee meetings and board strategy sessions as invited
- Bring ideas, feedback, and momentum
Right for you if: you want to contribute in a meaningful way, build relationships, and test the waters on leadership with some flexibility.

The year will go by fast. Let's make it a great one.
