What’s the Difference Between a Board Member and a Committee Member?
Serving on the board is more than a title—it’s a chance to amplify your leadership skills, forge deeper connections, and leave a lasting legacy in our community. Our board members and committee leads play a vital role in creating meaningful events, fostering member engagement, and supporting the mission of EO: to engage leading entrepreneurs to learn and grow.
Board members are the chapter’s strategic and operational leaders. They own key areas of the EO experience and are responsible for delivering measurable impact across the chapter.
- Lead a specific function (e.g., Learning, Membership, Forum, MyEO, Communications, etc.).
- Attend and contribute to monthly board meetings (typically in-person or virtual).
- Set goals, budgets, and timelines for your area.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other board members to ensure a unified chapter strategy.
- Represent EO Orange County regionally or globally as needed.
Ideal for:
Members who are ready to take on a leadership challenge, influence chapter direction, and invest consistent time and energy throughout the year.
Committee Members support board functions by executing initiatives, assisting with events, or leading special projects. This is a great way to get involved without the full-time commitment of a board seat.
- Support a specific board function or initiative.
- Help organize events, engage members, or execute communication strategies.
- Attend committee and occasional board strategy meetings as invited.
- Offer ideas, feedback, and help drive momentum.
Ideal for:
Members who want to contribute in a meaningful way, build relationships, and explore leadership opportunities with flexibility.
