What every seat actually does

Every board seat comes with goals and the work that gets you there. Read the role you are considering before you apply, and read the two or three next to it so you know who you would be working with.

Goals are what the seat is measured on. Activities are how the job gets done. Both get set with the president and the rest of the board at the Strategy Summit.
