EO Orange County (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the EO Scavenger Hunt mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Profile photo (optional)
If you sign in using Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from those services. We do not receive or store your passwords from third-party sign-in providers.
Usage Information
When you use the App, we collect:
- Photos you upload to complete scavenger hunt items
- Scavenger hunt completion records (items completed, timestamps, points earned)
- Your group/team membership and participation data
- Device push notification tokens (if you enable notifications)
Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect:
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- General usage analytics (screens viewed, features used)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the scavenger hunt experience
- Display leaderboards and activity feeds to other participants
- Send push notifications about hunt updates and announcements (with your permission)
- Assign you to your team/group during onboarding
- Improve and maintain the App
Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.
Your information may be visible to other App users in the following ways:
- Your name and profile photo appear on leaderboards and activity feeds
- Your team/group membership is visible to other participants
- Photos you submit for hunt item completions may be displayed in the activity feed and event recap
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
- Supabase — for authentication, database, and file storage (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- Expo / EAS — for app distribution and push notifications (Expo Privacy Policy)
- Google Sign-In — for optional authentication (Google Privacy Policy)
- Apple Sign-In — for optional authentication (Apple Privacy Policy)
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which uses industry-standard encryption and security practices. Authentication tokens are stored securely on your device using platform-native secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and participation data for the duration of your account’s existence and for a reasonable period afterward. Photos uploaded during scavenger hunts may be retained for event recap purposes.
You can delete your account and associated data directly within the app by navigating to Profile > Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You may also request deletion by contacting us at the email address below.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data
- Opt out of push notifications at any time through your device settings
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy within the App or by other reasonable means.
